So, in an effort to self-therapize a little more (Julie’s therapy sessions ain’t getting cheaper), I’ve decided to start The Bog Blog! It’s more or less a something about everything to do with anything that strikes my fancy—a quagmire of my interests and learnings on many topics. A Bog Blog! I can’t resist the alliteration.
I know that’s not very marketable, but that’s not my intention. So, what is my intention? Practicing mindfulness is difficult, I often feel I need a body double (someone who is just there to listen to me) to hear me out as I’m pontificating on the world. That being said, in an effort to be more self-soothing, I turn to you, dear reader, to be that body double. Perhaps you’ll enjoy my writer’s voice and maybe learn a little something. Classic literature, queer history, art, music, politics, and gardening are just a few things I’ll be writing about. Not in any sort of scholarly capacity, but I sure do use a lot of big words! Indubitably. I’ll also be sure to include resources on where I find my learning material.
It’s also just FUN to write! Public school in the U.S will teach you the ABC’s, how they fit together to make meaning, but it flops when it comes to teaching you the love for the craft. No citation needed for that, because not many of us can say we have lots of writer friends (I’ll probably spout off about my feelings on the failings of U.S schooling at some point, if politics are your jim jam). Writing is one of those rare activities I enjoy doing not for the sake of monetization, but for the joy of it in itself.
In summation, dear reader, this blog exists as a mindfulness tool, where you are my body double, because therapy isn’t cheap and I am NOTHING if not a cheapskate.
